In this article you will read about all the \u201cbad luck\u201d that befell us during all these years of traveling. However, as the saying goes: \u201cEvery obstacle is for the better\u201d because that is how we learned to face every setback and find a solution to the problem that arose. After all, these are the quintessences of travel: readjustment and experience! And despite the fact that nothing particularly difficult happened to us, despite a few setbacks, we wanted to share them with you and tell us about your respective experiences. So let's go:<\/p>\n

  1. Sudden rain in Tulum<\/strong>! The day is sunny and we are getting ready to visit the archaeological site of Tulum, one of the most beautiful in Mexico. While we were setting up the tripod for a photo with the temple of the winds in the background, the heavens opened! We had no umbrellas, there were no sheds in the area, so for about a quarter of an hour we found shelter under the few trees. We may have become \u201cducks\u201d from the rain, but the scenery compensated us.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Tulum \u2013 Mexico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    1. Policeman control<\/strong>! Outside Venice, on our way to the airport, we were stopped for a routine check by the police (the policeman was quite slow) and as a result we barely made it to the flight. Next time we'll start earlier!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. House in airport<\/strong>! The flight from Thessaloniki to Istanbul was delayed, causing us to literally run to the Istanbul airport to catch our next flight to Los Angeles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. The plane was leaving and we were drinking. cocktail<\/strong>! A little bit about the awesome cocktails on the roof garden overlooking the beautiful Porto, a little bit about the fact that we got confused with the departure time, we missed the return flight to Greece! Fortunately we found a solution with the next flight, but we had to wait 6 hours in the middle of the night at the airport and take a connecting flight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Weight luggage<\/strong>\u2026 We probably went overboard with our luggage in Mexico, which due to the many days we stayed there, was overweight. At the Cancun airport we were forced to open our suitcases, put things in our carry-on luggage or wherever else we found and\u2026 wear some of the clothes to reach the desired weight!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. The suitcases<\/strong> They didn't come! Returning from Houston, USA, our suitcases didn't arrive in Athens. Luckily, we were returning home so we didn't need the clothes. After 2-3 days, of course, a delivery service brought them to our door. We will definitely pack 1-2 clothes and essentials in our hand luggage from now on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Waiting for the next flight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

              1. Endless rain<\/strong>! On our trip to the French Riviera the weather forecast changed at the last minute and it rained non-stop for 4 days. This did not deter us of course as we learned to manage our schedule accordingly and move around when the rain stopped. However, we only saw a little of the famous color of the \u201cC\u00f4te d\u2019Azur\u201d\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                1. We almost missed our return flight from USA<\/strong>! A last-minute Lufthansa counter change and the incoherence of the airport officials had us going up and down floors, getting into elevators, running up stairs, and \u201cjumping\u201d lines. Finally, we made it and boarded at the last minute, literally!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  Calico Ghost Town \u2013 California<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

                  1. We stayed in the worst Airbnb<\/strong> ever! And in Athens in particular! While its reviews were very good (probably because of the price and the view), the reality was very different. The cleanliness was lacking. Luckily it was only for one night as we had booked something much better for the next day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      \n
                    1. We almost had our camera taken away at Belgrade<\/strong>! An angry Serbian soldier violently attacked us when we went to take close-up photos of the NATO-bombed buildings. He didn't know, however, that we had no reason to be afraid, so when he saw our composure, he simply told us to move a few meters back for our photos.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      1. We ruined it. lock<\/strong> of the house in Las Vegas! In the very nice house we lived in Las Vegas, the house lock was opened with a code. A little tiredness, a little haste, one night we managed to block the lock. We had to refer to the house instructions that had been sent to us by email and call the owner who was in\u2026Sweden to unlock it online.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        The Venetian hotel \u2013 Las Vegas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
                          \n
                        1. We would stay with cab<\/strong>! On our way to the Thessaloniki airport, where we were going to catch a flight to Bologna, the car started to \u201cshake\u201d. The lights were flickering, it was turning off, turning on again, doing \u201cits\u201d thing! We stayed on the side of the road for a few minutes with the engine off and miraculously it started again. We barely missed the flight again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          13. We stayed for an hour and a half fixed<\/strong> on the plane\u2026with the baby! It seemed from the beginning that things would not go well. The check-in staff at the Malta airport were overwhelmed with so many people, they missed something in the count, resulting in the flight looking overcrowded. So after we all boarded the plane (having also lost our boarding passes at baggage check) we waited for them to count us to find out what mistake they had made. Well, that took an hour and a half! And naturally the little one got bored somewhere\u2026<\/p>\n

                          14. Food poisoning<\/strong> in Tzia. Having eaten street food in Malaysia, having tasted spicy food in Mexico and having it in Greece is unheard of. On a beautiful beach in Kea we tried eggplants that probably hadn't been washed well. With our intestines doing a dance we spent a difficult twenty-four hours without staying in the room. After all, we were on vacation!<\/p>\n

                          These are more or less the unexpected ones.adventures<\/strong>" in our travels over the years. Through them we learned to make changes to our schedule and find solutions where necessary. We have certainly seen worse things happen to many. But only if you stay home will nothing happen to you, which for us is not a possibility. What happened to you while traveling?<\/p>\n
