Tribute from the daily newspaper's "K" magazine to us and 2 other fellow travel bloggers. Check it out here.

We are Yiannis Vasvatekis and Andromachi Parafesta, a couple of travel bloggers from Larissa. Our jobs are Civil Engineer and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) instructor, and teacher. The idea was “born” on the plane when we were returning from the U.S.! We thought of creating a blog where we would record our experiences and somehow inspire our friends and those who would like to make similar trips.

The truth is that a travel blog requires a lot of time and endless hours on social media that many times our main job and daily life do not allow us to have. Blogging for us is a means of expression, not promotion nor an end in itself. Our motto is the following: “A good traveler is an informed traveler”.

We want the photos on our blog to be simple, so that the reader can “put” themselves there. It was not our intention to create a site with professional photos but with real ones! To take a joint photo, a tripod or a selfie stick is sometimes more than enough. A joint photo of us on a paradise beach in Mexico is our most popular photo on Instagram.

It's a shame that likes and followers play an important role in today's era of the omnipotence of social media. However, when it comes to writing, the content we're talking about, that's where one can see the essence of a blog and the "nakedness" of another. There are many bloggers. Few content creators.

The scariest place was a ghost town in the Mojave Desert (California) where we felt like we were the protagonists of a western!

Unfortunately, our main job does not allow us to travel whenever we want. We try to take advantage of every holiday and of course Christmas, Easter, summer or to “create” long weekends (LW). As for the financial part, now with low cost airlines, travel has become affordable for everyone. Transatlantic flights of course cost a little more. There, to reduce the cost, you need proper planning, several months in advance and of course saving!

Our dream is to visit the Hawaiian Islands and surf the Pacific someday. The outbreak of the pandemic found Giannis in the Alps on a tour of the ski resorts of Austria. We experienced the quarantine as difficult as most.

We canceled trips and excursions and stayed home reading about new destinations and dreaming about the future. The end of quarantine, however, filled us with joy because a sweet baby was added to our “luggage” and the truth is that we can’t wait to travel together and show him the world!
