Opportunity this year for road trips in Greece!

Advice from Larissa travelbloggers Yannis and Andromachi *Which routes do they recommend and which period

As the high temperatures brought summer one step closer, most of us have already started thinking about our summer vacations. However, the coronavirus pandemic has set new standards for our choices. Distancing has made most people orient themselves towards road trips, the so-called “roadtrips”. It is considered by many to be the safest option compared to boarding a plane or a ship, while with the right planning and planning, this option can prove to be quite economical. If we also consider the reduced price of fuel and the economic problems left behind by the coronavirus pandemic, then a road trip earns a bonus in our summer plans this year.

To get some ideas on this issue, we turned to Yiannis and Andromachi, two travel bloggers from Larissa who "travel" us through their blog Travel See Feel (http://travelseefeel.com/).

* Where would you travel this summer?
– Although we love traveling abroad, we believe that this year we should support our country and the domestic market. After all, it has proven that it handled this crisis in the best possible way and for this reason the reviews from all over the world are particularly positive. After all, since there is no vaccine and many are hesitant to travel by ship and plane, this is a great opportunity for road trips!

* Tell us some domestic destinations that are suitable for road trips?
– Our country is truly suitable for this type of trip and the beauties that one will encounter more than compensate for this. In addition to the Thessalian destinations, which are known to most of us, an amazing road trip is the tour of Evia. You will need to travel quite a few kilometers and often on difficult roads. However, the beaches, especially on the Aegean side, look like small unspoiled paradises! Another favorite road trip for us is the western side of Epirus with the beautiful Sivota, the picturesque Parga and Preveza with the Amvrakikos. Continuing further south, one can also combine it with a few days in Lefkada, which is accessible by road.

If you have several days off, the Peloponnese tour is a unique road trip, about which articles have even been written in National Geographic! However, for those who want shorter road trips, Halkidiki and especially the second leg have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, as well as two almost “exotic” islands with Caribbean waters… Diaporos and Ammouliani!

As for those for whom vacation means mountains and coolness, we believe that there is no more ideal destination than Zagorochoria! In addition to the amazing beauty and picturesqueness of these villages, the visitor can enjoy high-level tourist infrastructure and several attractions, including the deepest gorge in the world! As a second choice, we recommend a pristine and even slightly touristy place, mountainous Nafpaktia. The area is ideal for nature lovers and those who want alternative holidays, while it can be combined with "forgotten" but impressive destinations in mountainous Evrytania.

* What period would you choose to travel?
– There is no ideal vacation period. This is something that depends on the days of vacation that each person has, the weather conditions (June 2018 was the rainiest in the last 45 years), each person's budget, but also on the availability of accommodations during the period that one wishes to travel. However, under no circumstances would we travel between August 1 and 19, which is considered high season.
