While the summer is still going on (in parts of southern Greece this can be until November!) we are enjoying the beaches and coasts of our beautiful country. Surely we all have a beach somewhere inside us that surpasses the rest. Something touched us there, something made us consider it better than the others!

So, it was that summer that we were exploring Crete. Its beaches... one better than the other! Balos, Frangokastelo, Elafonisi, Falasarna, Preveli, Matala… But the abundance of tourists and the easy access didn't completely win us over.

In the south of the prefecture of Rethymno near the village of Sachtouria we discovered a "hidden" paradise! The beach Saint Paul's DunesAccording to the estimates of some researchers, Saint Paul took refuge on this beach during his journey to Rome.

Arriving by car at the hill to gaze at the sea, we had no idea what we would see. Huge sand dunes end at the coast, about a kilometer long. Wild rocks on the right and left, and in the middle a golden sandy beach with very few people. The path on the right, not as steep as it seems, leads you to the beach in five minutes… The scenery was reminiscent of exotic volcanic islands (Azores, Lanzarote or even Oahu).

The tranquility that the place provides is unique, while the landscape leaves you speechless! We arrived in the morning and left in the evening. We can't explain it, but something "magnetized" us to this beach. We met a group of French people, who were doing yoga in a corner of the beach. They told us about the energetic vibes of the area and that they visit it every year!

A little further down, a group was sand boarding! Very natural with the slope of the hill. We borrowed their boards and enjoyed another experience. Yogis, boarders and the few "cool ones", we became a group and lost ourselves in the colors of the sunset...

Since then and without much reason, a little bit of the scenery and the colors, a little bit of the energetic vibes, we consider this to be the best beach we have ever visited! It undoubtedly had something unique. Really, which is your favorite??
