Taking a road trip that we had been planning for a long time and in collaboration with Mani Traveler Greece, we stayed at a unique resort on the edge of Laconia Mani, Marmari Paradise. The complex is located above Marmari Beach, the largest but also one of the few sandy beaches in the area.

Το resort

The first image we saw was extremely impressive! The resort is built amphitheatrically, in a way that blends harmoniously with the landscape and has stone and wood as its main elements. The owners fully respected the wild Doric landscape of Mani and created with passion and love a hospitable space that wins you over from the first moment. A great advantage is the view of the beach and the access of all rooms to it, which makes it an ideal destination for relaxing and carefree holidays.

It all started in 1994 when a small tavern for beachgoers opened in the place of Marmari Paradise. Gradually, the first rooms were built and four expansions followed, which today make it 20 rooms, a restaurant, an event-reception hall, a beach bar, while this year a market store is also starting to operate.

The reception

The central reception area is decorated with various objects painstakingly collected over the years, while the scents that immediately make their appearance are from various flowers and aromatic plants of Mani, such as oregano, thyme, rosemary, and sage.

There, Lefteris Georgariou, one of the 4 brothers who manage the resort, awaits us, always with a smile and a willingness to serve you. Veros Maniatis, Lefteris knows the area like no other and will give you the best tips regarding the places you should visit.

The rooms

When you go somewhere for vacation, what your eyes crave is the view of the sea. The rooms at Marmari Paradise generously offer you this luxury which is ideally combined with the large balconies that give you the opportunity to sit and gaze at the sea. The most ideal times for this are dawn and sunset with the sun's rays gently caressing the natural bay in Marmari. The rooms are spacious, simple and unpretentious with stone and wood dominating and fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Breakfast

I don’t know about you, but for us, breakfast is a ritual that we refuse to skip! We don’t start our day without it and it is one of the crucial elements in a hotel review. At Marmari Paradise we found a full Greek breakfast with local ingredients such as cheeses, eggs, fresh baked bread, honey, handmade jams, pastries and other delicious flavors, all from Mani. If you want something different, the restaurant is always at your disposal to prepare anything you ask for. What else does one need to start their day full of energy and in the mood for sightseeing?

The restaurant

The restaurant/breakfast area is perhaps one of the biggest advantages of the resort, as it is located in a spot that “sees” the sea amphitheatrically. Its balcony is ideal for enjoying traditional Mani recipes and local wines. Everything we tried was well-cooked and delicious, while the prices are reasonable.

The beach

The golden sand and the clear blue waters have made Marmari a favorite destination in Mani. After all, it is the largest organized sandy beach in the area, in a bay that gives an exotic beauty. The owners of Marmari Paradise, having a keen interest in the environmental footprint of the beach bar's operation, make every effort to keep the beach always clean. In fact, in recent years they have purchased biodegradable catering items and ecological materials.

Plus: As extreme sports enthusiasts that we are, we noticed that with westerly or southwesterly winds the beach produces ideal waves for surfing, while the wind is steady, that is necessary for windsurfing and kitesurfing!

Events

What we noticed during our stay at Marmari Paradise is that the place is an ideal destination for organizing weddings, baptisms or other events as it has the corresponding spaces, as well as its own chapel. In fact, from the photo albums we saw, baptisms are held in an original way… in the sea!!
